Hadoop for MNC’S

In the blog with a title “Haddop-The Baby Elephant of Big data” of Skillville we have had an introductory idea of the open source software framework Hadoop and its related services. Now let’s discuss which are the different MNC’s which uses Hadoop as a Big Data Management platform.

eBay and its 500 Node’s Hadoop Cluster:

eBay is an online shopping site best known for its auctions and consumer to consumer sales. It is popular for online merchants to use as a sales channel.  As per eBay’s Analytics Platform Development team the auction giant is taking advantage of the Hadoop platform to leverage the 8 to 10 terabytes of data that flood in each day. eBay is the first online company who started using Hadoop in 2007 on a small cluster to work with machine learning and search relevance problem. These small subsets of data were useful enough for experimenting but company wanted to utilise the data across several departments of company. eBay made a first large cluster of Hadoop with 500 node to suit the needs of various departments of eBay. Within just three months of deployment it began crunching predictive models to solve real-time problems and has since extended to meet other needs.

Sentiment analysis by General Electric Company using Hadoop:

General Electric Company (GE) is an American multinational conglomerate which is incorporated   in New York and headquartered in Boston. From 2018

Company operates through various segments like aviation, healthcare, power, renewable energy, digital industry, additive manufacturing, venture capital and finance, lighting and oil gas. With such large number of groups of verticals in company sentiment analysis is tough technical challenge, as well as business challenge. An interactive  application build by digital media and Hadoop for marketing functions is empowered with advanced sentiment analysis. Hadoop and Hive help the online travel hub to do everything from improve the ability to allow quick hotel filtering and sorting and to examine larger internal trends.

Skillville Viewpoint:

Including above mentioned multinational companies Facebook, Infochimps, Digital reasoning are also using Hadoop Cluster and data warehousing for managing the Big Data. Companies are treating data as an asset and to manage that asset Hadoop with its deployed clusters in the environment is helping the companies. Open source nature of Hadoop Environment is contributing in its popularity day by day resulting in huge number of job opportunities.

But of course in this data driven industrial environment, the one who is skilled enough with this open source framework named Hadoop will only  win the race. So, if you want to at least start the race stay tuned and be with us through “Certificate program in Big Data Engineering.” and don’t forget to visit www.skillville.in.
